Computer aided systems human engineering: A hypermedia tool

The Computer Aided Systems Human Engineering (CASHE) system, Version 1.0, is a multimedia ergonomics database on CD-ROM for the Apple Macintosh II computer, being developed for use by human system designers, educators, and researchers. It will initially be available on CD-ROM and will allow users to access ergonomics data and models stored electronically as text, graphics, and audio. The CASHE CD-ROM, Version 1.0 will contain the Boff and Lincoln (1988) Engineering Data Compendium, MIL-STD-1472D and a unique, interactive simulation capability, the Perception and Performance Prototyper. Its features also include a specialized data retrieval, scaling, and analysis capability and the state of the art in information retrieval, browsing, and navigation

Malaxis monophyllos var. brachypoda, One-leaved Malaxis, new to the Northwest Territories, Canada

The orchid, Malaxis monophyllos var. brachypoda, is reported from Yellowknife, this being the first record for the Northwest Territories and an extension of about 650 kilometers to the northeast from the nearest population in northern British Columbia

Fifteen native taxa are reported as new to either District of Keewatin (now Nunavut in part) or District of Mackenzie (Nunavut contains the northeastern portion): Aster puniceus, Astragalus eucosmus, Astragalus eucosmus f. albinus, Carex media, Epilobium latifolium f. albiflorum, Eriophorum viridi-carinatum, Erysiumum pallasii, Moneses uniflora, Najas flexilis, Potamogeton obtusifolius, Salix arctica x glauca, Salix glauca ssp. callicarpae, Salix myrtillifolia, Salix rotundifolia, Shepherdia canadensis, taxa are new to Northwest Territories overall. Significant range extensions for 157 native taxa are included

Testing Hereditary Properties of Sequences

A hereditary property of a sequence is one that is preserved when restricting to subsequences. We show that there exist hereditary properties of sequences that cannot be tested with sublinear queries, resolving an open question posed by Newman et al. This proof relies crucially on an infinite alphabet, however; for finite alphabets, we observe that any hereditary property can be tested with a constant number of queries

New Records of Vascular Plants in the Yukon Territory VII

Based on field reconnaissance mainly in 2003 in Kluane National Park but also many other areas throughout the Yukon, information is provided on geographically significant plant occurrences. Thirteen native taxa, Agrostis humilis, Blysmopsis rufa, Carex bebbii, C. lenticularis var. dolia, C. nigricans, C. sartwellii, C. siccata, Diphasiastrum sitchense, Najas flexilis, Oxytropis arctica var. arctica, Oxytropis arctica var. murrayi, Saxifraga nelsoniana ssp. carlottae and Swertia perennis and two introduced taxa, Bromus japonicus and Leymus mollis ssp. mollis s.l. are reported new to the flora of the Yukon Territory. Significant range extensions for 109 native and eight introduced taxa are included and three species, Clematis occidentalis, Polygonum persicaria, and Verbena hastata are deleted from the flora

Based on field reconnaissance since the publication of Flora of the Continental Northwest Territories in 1980, particularly in the District of Keewatin and northeastern District of Mackenzie (Nunavut) and Nahanni National Park, information is provided on geographically significant plant occurrences. One new taxon, Polemonium boreale forma albiflorum, is described, fourteen native taxa are reported as new to the region: Carex hoodii, C. microptera, C. petasata, Corispermum hookeri, C. ochotense, Danthonia spicata, Draba stenoloba, Erysisnum coarctatum, Halenia deflexa, Polygonum fowleri, P. ramosissimum, Salix rotundifolia ssp. rotundifolia, Silene uralensis ssp. ogilviensis, and Vaccinium ovalifolium. Five introduced taxa, Crepis tectorum, Corispermum villosum, Deschampsia elongata, D. incisa var. incisa, and Medicago sativa ssp. falcata are new to the flora of the region. Two native taxa, Danthonia intermedia and Potentilla porsildiorum are deleted from the flora and Ranunculus aquatilis var hispidulus is placed in synonymy. Significant range extensions for 125 native and one introduced taxon are included

Based on field reconnaissance mainly in 2002 in the southern part of the Yukon and particularly in and adjacent to Kluane National Park, information is provided on geographically significant plant occurrences. Six native taxa, Atriplex alaskensis, Claytonia megarrhiza, Corispermum ochotense var. alaskanum, Oxytropis arctica, Polemonium acutiflorum forma lacteum and Polemonium boreale forma albiflorum, and four introduced taxa. Arabis caucasica, Camelina sativa, Senecio eremophilus, and Setaria viridis are reported new to the known flora of the Yukon Territory. Significant range extensions for 158 native and 21 introduced taxa are included. Parrya arctica, Armoracia rusticana, Atriplex patula and Papaver nudicaule ssp. nudicaule are excluded from the Yukon flora

Based on field reconnaissance in 2000 and 2001 throughout Yukon but particularly in the areas of the Upper Bonnet Plume River, Wind River, Eagle Plains and Vuntut National Park, information is provided on geographically significant plant occurrences. Three native taxa, Draba kananaskis, Hieracium albiflorum and Prunella vulgaris ssp. lanceolata and five introduced taxa, Alopecurus geniculatus, Dactylis glomerata, Elymus junceus, Lotus corniculatus, and Verbena hastata are reported new to the known flora of the Yukon Territory. Signifigant range extensions for 190 native and 24 introduced taxa are included. Maianthemum dilatatum is excluded from the Yukon flora
